Africa: Oyo state govt. sentences two poachers to 6 Months imprisonment

A Magistrate Court in Oyo State has convicted and sentenced two hunters, Aliyu Ogunbaabe and Issah Saliu who were arrested on 17th of August,2020 at Marguba Range of Old Oyo National Park to seven (7) weeks community service or six months jail term.

In addition, the Court ordered the two convicts to jointly pay the sum of #150, 000 (one hundred and fifty thousand naira only) as conservation value to National Park Service.

The duo were subjected to Covid-19 test which proved negative and were on the 17th of September, 2020 handed over to the Oyo Medium Correctional Centre, Nigeria Correctional Service, to serve their jail term.
