Hotel owners in Tanzania have been urged to improve their services and upgrade accommodation facilities ahead of AFCON 2027. The call comes as the country prepares for an expected large influx of tourists during the tournament.
According to dailynews, speaking during a visit to inspect the development of accommodation infrastructure at Tengefu Mto wa Mbu Game Reserve, in Monduli district, Arusha region, the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, said Tanzania is expected to receive a large number of tourists from within and outside the country and urged hotel and lodge owners to plan accordingly to fully benefit from the opportunity.
Dr Kijaji said that the AFCON 2027 competition will provide a huge economic opportunity for the country, so it is the responsibility of tourism sector stakeholders, especially hotel and lodge owners, to ensure that they provide quality services that meet international standards.

“It is important for every hotel owner to ensure that they are well prepared to serve guests with the quality they deserve,” said Dr Kijaji.
He also said that the arrival of AFCON 2027 in the East African region, including Tanzania, is a great opportunity for citizens to benefit economically and promote the tourism sector.
On the other hand, he said that the leadership of Tengefu Mto wa Mbu Game Reserve should improve its infrastructure and services to increase its attractiveness to tourists and provide them with a better experience when they visit the reserve.
During the visit, Dr Kijaji emphasized the importance of improving the quality of services to meet the needs of the international market.
The AFCON 2027 competitions are expected to be held in East African countries, where Tanzania is among the hosts of this major sporting event in Africa, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors from different parts of the world.
