The Organizers of Accra Weizo the West African Travel fair in partnership with Ghana Tourism Authority has announced the return of the biggest Travel Expo in Ghana after its last edition in 2019 and the Covid19 Pandemic.
This is just as Accra Weizo and ATQnews.com, members of Travel Media Group, the online platform for African Travel Quarterly (ATQ), the first travel magazine in West Africa, are set to unveil the Top 30 resorts in West Africa.
This will be at the 6th edition of Accra Weizo the West African Tourism Fair.
According to the organizer, the 6th edition is slated to hold on the 26th of May, 2023.
Accra Weizo Travel Expo is a travel event targeted at growing seamless travel business in West Africa and it is organized by Akwaaba African Travel Market in partnership with Ghana Tourism Authority.
West Africa is the biggest region in Africa with over 400 million people rich in culture and tourist attractions. It receives the least number of tourists, yet West African Countries generate the highest number of Outbound Travellers in Africa.
There is a need to encourage West Africans to Travel within the region and create a seamless travel environment making West Africa an open domestic tourism market, harnessing the market and opportunities within. This is the goal of Accra Weizo.
West Africa has 15 Countries with breathtaking sceneries, dense equatorial forest, temperate highlands and savannah grasslands rich in wildlife. With two of Africa’s longest Rivers of Niger and Senegal and a long unbroken beach line stretching from the fringes of the dry desert of Saharahwi and Mauritania to the dense rain forest of the Cross River in Nigeria.
The need to redress the tourism arrivals and increase receipts necessitates the promotion of the availability of quality resorts in West Africa. With so many resorts to choose from, it can be overwhelming for travelers to find the one that offers the best value and experience. Nominations will start on Monday 6th of March, 2023 and will end on the 31st of March, 2023.
The criteria will include location, facilities and number of rooms, to help travelers make the right choice. The search will include multiple sources, and the use of public nominations, and industry experts. The final list of the top 30 resorts in West Africa will be published on ATQNews website and will be available to travelers around the world. The research will help promote sustainable and responsible tourism in the region and provide a boost to the local economy.
Major highlights of the 6th Accra Weizo Travel event include Conference, B2B, Fam Trip, Exhibition, Balafon Award. Balafon awards of Excellence are Awards organized to recognize Pioneers and best players in the industry for the ECOWAS region.
The organizer in partnership with Ghana Tourism Authority would host delegates coming from nations in the West, South and Eastern part of Africa on a 3-day familiarization tour.
