Lilly Ajarova, one of the Top 100 women in Tourism honoured at the 13th Akwaaba African Travel Market has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Tourism Board (UTB).
Ajarova is the Executive Director of the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and wildlife trust. She was, on Thursday, announced by the State minister for tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda as the Board’s ED.
Ajarova studied at the International Tourism Management College in Austria. She garnered experience working for the likes of Sheraton and Delmira tours and travel while awaiting her graduation.
After graduation she got a job at Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) as the tourism development manager.
Lilly Ajarova is the executive director Chimpanzee Trust, a global Conservation initiative that manages Ngamba Island, an African model Chimpanzee Sanctuary situated on Lake Victoria in Uganda.
She has also served as a member on the Advisory Committee of Pan Africa Sanctuary Alliance (PASA) and developed the policies, standard operating procedures and best practices for the 22 sanctuary and wildlife centre in 13 African member countries of PASA.
Ajarova was also committee Chairperson on the Uganda Tourism Board and directed the development and implementation of quality assurance, grading and classification of Uganda and East Africa.
At the Uganda Wildlife Authority(UWA) she served as the Tourism product Development and marketing Manager. There she spearheaded the development of tourism products in the national parks of Uganda.
She is a recipient of the prestigious National Golden Jubilee Award, Tourism Excellence Award, Wildlife Conservation Award and Top 100 Women in Tourism Africa
