The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA), in collaboration with its agencies—including the Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute, Uganda Wildlife Research and Training Institute, Uganda Museum, and Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre—have launched the 9th Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2025 and the “Tell Your Story – Explore Uganda” campaign.

According to nilepost.co.ug, the leading tourism and travel trade show will be held from May 21 to 24, 2025, at Speke Resort and Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala.

This year’s expo, themed “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” aims to bring together tourism stakeholders, international buyers, investors, and media representatives to experience Uganda’s diverse tourism offerings.

The event will serve as a platform to showcase Uganda’s unique attractions and enhance its visibility on the global tourism map.

The “Tell Your Story – Explore Uganda” campaign is a storytelling initiative encouraging Ugandans to share their tourism experiences through videos, photos, and written content.

The campaign seeks to promote domestic tourism by inviting citizens to narrate their unique adventures and highlight Uganda’s scenic landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

POATE is an annual flagship event designed to position Uganda as a top global tourism destination.

The 2025 edition will welcome 70 selected international buyers, over 5,000 trade visitors, and a diverse range of exhibitors from across the world.

The expo will facilitate Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) interactions, creating valuable networking and investment opportunities.

This year’s event will also highlight the growing significance of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, aligning with global travel and hospitality trends.

Attendees can expect destination marketing presentations, expert panel discussions, media engagement opportunities, and cultural showcases.

With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, POATE 2025 aims to foster meaningful collaborations among tourism stakeholders, policymakers, and private sector players. Local and international exhibitors, travel professionals, influencers, and media representatives are encouraged to participate in this landmark event to explore Uganda’s untapped tourism potential and new business opportunities.
