Operating in Nigeria’s aviation industry can be quite challenging for both international and domestic airline operators in the sector which have to grapple with myriad of operational bottlenecks.
Although the operating environment could be a bit lenient to foreign carrier as opposed to domestic airlines, operators in the sector still have to deal with the challenges of high cost of aviation fuel, foreign exchange rate, multiple taxation and also come up with innovative strategies to curry passengers’ patronage, given its competiveness.
But for former Ethiopian Airlines General Manager, Nigeria, Firiehiwot Mekonnen the sector has afforded her the opportunity to garner the experience to play in a much higher capacity, having spent four years in the Industry.
Firiehiwot who is now the Director of Germany and Central Europe office for Ethiopian Airlines says her desire is to increase the market share of Ethiopian airlines and motivate its esteemed customers to travel to Ethiopia and practically experience and enjoy its jaw-dropping and breath-taking wonders and varied unique cultures.
“It was always my dream to build a life around aviation and specifically to be part of my flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines. I remember sharing my memorable flight experiences with my friends every day, and expressing my deep love and respect I have for my Airline. I can say that I am so lucky to have the chance to join the great team of Ethiopian and serve my country with unreserved passion and energy.
