Africa: Zanzibar Tourism Minister boards luxury liner as it drops anchor in Zanzibar and holds talk on possible cooperation with Alain St.Ange of Seychelles

Hon Mudrik Ramadhan Soraga, the Zanzibar Minister of Tourism led a delegation from his Ministry and also from the Ports Authority for a working visit on an exclusive luxury liner soon after it dropped anchor in Zanzibar.

Following a discovery tour of the ship, the Tourism Minister of the ‘Spice Island’ of Zanzibar sat down for a meeting with Alain St.Ange, the former Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine of the Seychelles who currently heads his very own ‘Saint Ange Tourism Consultancy’.

The meeting between Minister Mudrik Ramadhan Soraga and former Minister St.Ange centered on tourism development including the aspiration by Zanzibar Officials for increased visibility of their island, and the development of an ongoing communication approach with tour operator partners and the press community who are so needed for Zanzibar and greater Tanzania.

Discussions also touched on Cruise Tourism market and the expectations from Zanzibar as a tourism destination wanting to be a ‘must stop’ port.

The Zanzibar Minister was accompanied on the luxury liner’s visit and at the meeting with Alain St.Ange by Dr Aboud Suleiman Aboud, the Permanent Secretary, Mr Akif Ali Khamis, the Director General Zanzibar Ports Corporation, Mrs Septuu Hafidh Khalfan, the Personall Assistace to the Minister, Dr Abdulla Mohammed Juma, the Drector for Tourism, Mr Samora John Chacha, the Direct of Planning, Ministry of Tourism, Mr Mussa Hassan Mussa, the Official Photographer, Mr Fahmi Suleiman Salum, also the Official Photographer and Mehboob Champsi of the Minister’s Private Office.

At the end of the meeting, both Minister Mudrik Ramadhan Soraga and former Minister Alain St.Ange said they were happy with the meeting and looked forward to explore ways to continue dialogue.
