The new terminal under construction at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), when completed, will improve the traveling experience and offer convenience to airlines, according to Axel Metselaar-Country Manager Air France-KLM Ghana.

“I think from a product perspective we can all gain with it. Of course this terminal that we are using now is saturated, it is sometimes crowded — especially during peak times. When the new terminal is completed the travelling experience will be much better. From a cost perspective, we hope it is completed soon because we’ll need less buses,” he said.

Mr. Metselaar was speaking to the B&FT on the sidelines of a special event held to appreciate the airline’s corporate and trade partners — dubbed ‘A Night with KLM’.

The new terminal, to be known as Terminal Three (T3), is designed to accommodate five million passengers a year and will process 1,250 passengers an hour. It will also have six boarding bridges.

Guests at the event were treated to the latest Roverman Production, ‘One million Pounds’ written and directed by Ebo Whyte.
“We did it actually for the top-tier Flying Blue Members, corporate customers that buy a lot — and travel agencies that supported us throughout the year. So it was a ‘thank you’ for the 2015 achievements, which were excellent for us.

“The 2015 year started in March when we just went up with the introduction of our Boeing 777. People like to fly this product, and people are enthused both in economy and business classes.
“We have done a lot of activities; we have a great Facebook page where people engage with each other and we connect with the public 24/7,” Mr. Metselaar said.

Awards were presented to top corporate clients and trading partners. Special awards were presented to Westside Travel & Tours, Expert travel Travel& Tours, and Satguru Travel & Tours.
