In an effort to launch a new national carrier, 20 years after Air Guinée has gone bankrupt, Guinean authorities have commissioned a cabinet market analysis to that effect.
According to North Africa Post, the Prime Minister of the West African country, Bernard Goumou has instructed the ministers of transport, finance, foreign affairs and budget to analyze the establishment of the national carrier.
“It is imperative to provide our country with an airline company,” Goumou said during a cabinet meeting held last week.
The move came after the cabinet received a barrage of criticism following a recent trip of the leader of the transition Mamadi Doumbouya to Mali on board the presidential aircraft of the neighbor.
Malian leader Assimi Goita lent his aircraft to Doumbouya to bring him to Mali on September 22. Air Guinée, founded in 1960, went bankrupt 20 years ago after privatization.
