Africa’s biggest carrier, Ethiopian Airlines will reintroduce Monrovia, the capital of Liberia in the West of the vast continent to its network on November 30.
According to simpleflying.com, for the first time, flights will operate non-stop to/from Addis Ababa and extend to Conakry, Guinea.
Due to the length of haul, the 787-8-operated flights will arrive in Guinea at 16:05 and leave at 08:00 the next day. This ensures maximum two-way connectivity over Addis to the Middle East, Asia, Europe, etc.
Monrovia flights are back after last seeing Ethiopian in 2010, mainly on the now-retired 757-200 via Accra. Meanwhile, Conakry is already served. This means its flights will no longer stop in Ouagadougou but switch to Monrovia instead.
This development is news for two main reasons. First, the return to Liberia after 14 years. Second, Addis-Monrovia will be Ethopian’s new longest intra-Africa non-stop service, overtaking Cape Town. But Addis-Monrovia-Conakry will ‘only’ be the carrier’s second-longest African one-stop operation, behind Addis-Bamako-Dakar.
