Aviation, business and leisure communities between Lagos, Nigeria and Lome, Togo have applauded the management of Overland Airways for extending its flight operations to the French West African country.
The passengers between the two countries described the commencement of direct operations by the airline as a quick-link between both countries.
A statement over the weekend by the airline said that the inaugural flight, which took off from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos with a brief stop-over at the Cadjehoun International Airport, Cotonou before landing at the Gnassingbe Eyadema International Airport in Lome, Togo was well-received by all.
Overland Airways had on August 12, 2018 began flight services from Lagos to Lome.
The statement hinted that the Société Aéroportuaire de Lomé Tokoin (SALT) received Overland Airways’ maiden flight with a spectacular water canon salute in the presence of Olusola Iji, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Togo, Col. Dokisime Gnama-Latta, Director-General, Togo Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Christian Folly-Kossi, former Secretary General of Africa Airlines Association (AFRAA), and many other dignitaries.
The Lagos-Cotonou- Lome flights operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The flights depart Lagos at 19:00hrs, arrive Cotonou at 19:25hrs; and depart Cotonou at 20:00hrs to arrive Lome at 20:30hrs. Also, Overland Airways flights depart Lome at 21:00hrs to arrive in Lagos at 21:45hrs.
Commenting on the operations, Capt. Edward Boyo, Managing Director, Overland Airways said that the airline was delighted to have connected travellers between the two countries.
