A landmark moment was recorded today at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport (SMICA), Owerri, with the successful arrival of the inaugural flight of Enugu Air, operated by XE-Jet.
The flight, with number RET2245, registration 5N-ENU, and aircraft type Embraer E-Jet (E170), touched down at 15:11hrs and was seamlessly parked at the apron at 15:17hrs. The maiden service carried 53 passengers and 7 crew members.
On ground to receive and celebrate the airline’s debut into Owerri airspace were the Regional Manager, South-East (Enugu Airport Manager), SMICA Airport Manager, and other excited airport stakeholders. The atmosphere was filled with delight as passengers and the airline’s Chief Executive were warmly welcomed.
All disembarkation, baggage claim, and procedural processes were conducted smoothly, reflecting the readiness of the airport to support the airline’s operations.
The aircraft departed Owerri for Lagos at 17:14hrs with 56 passengers and 6 crew members on board, marking a hitch-free conclusion to the inaugural service.
The arrival of Enugu Air is expected to boost regional connectivity, enhance passenger choice, and contribute to the economic development of the South-East region.
