Ethiopian Airlines, in partnership with its Togolese affiliate ASKY Airlines, has announced plans to develop a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) hub in West Africa as part of its long-term Vision 2040 expansion strategy.
According to ch-aviation.com, the initiative is aimed at strengthening regional aviation infrastructure while positioning the group as a leading provider of technical services beyond its core airline operations.
This follows a positive feasibility study that confirmed the need for a West African technical hub, group CEO Mesfin Tasew told a news briefing at the recent inaugural African MRO Conference in Addis Ababa. The facility is the first of several planned MRO hubs to strengthen Africa’s aviation self-reliance.
