Skytrax ranking

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya is missing from the latest Skytrax ranking of Africa’s top 10 airports, raising concerns about its position among the continent’s leading aviation hubs.

According to the-star.co.ke, Kenya’s regional neighbours, Rwanda and Ethiopia, managed to make it to the prestigious list, with Kigali International Airport being ranked the 8th and Bole International Airport 9th in the continent, respectively.

Cape Town International Airport was ranked Africa’s best, followed by O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg and King Shaka International Airport (DUR), Durban, emerging third.

Morocco’s Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) and Mohammed V International Airport (CMN), Casablanca, were ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, while Egypt’s Cairo International Airport (CAI) emerged sixth.

Mauritius’ Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) was ranked 7th, with Ivato International Airport of Madagascar closing the ranks of the top 10.

Singapore Changi Airport was named the Airport of the Year 2026 at the 2026 World Airport Awards ceremony held at PTE World in London on March 18, 2026.

The World Airport Awards are prestigious accolades for the airport industry, voted by customers in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey.

The Awards are based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities of airport customers during the survey period, which operated from August 2025 to February 2026.

In total, more than 575 airports worldwide are assessed based on these performance indicators, with particular attention paid to consistency and the overall quality of the passenger experience.

The survey evaluated the customer experience across airport service and product key performance indicators – from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security/immigration through to departure at the gate.
