Nigeria’s domestic aviation sector recorded a new lift on December 9, 2025, as Umza Air officially commenced flights between Abuja and Owerri, expanding its growing route network.
The airline marked the milestone with its inaugural service on the busy corridor, a move its Managing Director, Barr. Henry Anachuna, described as a strategic step toward strengthening regional connectivity and meeting rising passenger demand nationwide.
According to a press release by the airline, the historic flight received an overwhelming reception at the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, where enthusiastic residents, industry stakeholders, and airport officials gathered to celebrate Umza Air’s entry into the Imo airspace.

Speaking on this achievement, the Managing Director, Barr. Henry Anachuna, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the people of Imo State for their warm welcome and support:
