Gateway Air

ValueJet, in partnership with Ogun State-owned Gateway Air, has commenced a scheduled flight service connecting Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, with Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, via Lagos.

The new Abuja–Lagos–Gateway service is designed to provide air connectivity between the Federal Capital Territory and Ogun State’s growing commercial and industrial corridor, offering an alternative to road transportation for travellers.

According to the operators, the service departs Abuja in the early morning, with the current schedule showing a 6:30am departure from Abuja, followed by the Lagos connection to Gateway International Airport.

ValueJet Managing Director, Omololu Majekodunmi, said the early departure was designed around travellers with demanding schedules, including those visiting Ogun State for business and personal engagements.

“Our daily Abuja–Lagos–Gateway service is about giving our passengers their day back,” Majekodunmi said.

Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation, Olugbenga Dairo, said the service was introduced in response to growing demand from residents, businesses and visitors for stronger air connections between Ogun and major commercial centres across Nigeria.

He added that Governor Dapo Abiodun had directed Gateway Air to continually review and optimise its schedule and fleet capacity in response to passengers’ needs.

The new route is expected to benefit passengers travelling to Ogun State for business meetings, industrial visits, government appointments and other engagements, particularly given the concentration of manufacturing, logistics, agricultural and other commercial activities across the state.

The partnership also forms part of ValueJet’s broader expansion of its domestic and regional operations.

Gateway International Airport, located in the Iperu area of Ogun State, has increasingly been positioned as an alternative aviation gateway for travellers accessing the state’s commercial and industrial corridor.
