The largest aviation group in Africa, Ethiopian Airlines has been tasked with the maintenance service for all A350 XWB fleets within the continent by the manufacturer, Airbus – one of the largest aircraft makers in the world.
The information was made known by Mr. Reta Melaku, Maintenance head at Ethiopian Airlines Group, who spoke to the state daily Amharic newspaper, Addis Zemen.
Melaku noted that the acceptance of Ethiopian Airlines Group to provide the service has come after the successful maintenance of four Airbus A350 XWB by Ethiopian technicians recently.
As the number of Airbus A350 owned by African airlines gradually increases, the new service will be an additional revenue stream for Ethiopian Airlines, he added.
In a related development, Head of Operations (Ethiopian Airlines Group), Mr. Mesfin Tasew has revealed that the group has placed order for ten Airbus A350 XWB planes in the coming two years.
Ethiopian Airlines currently has a total of fourteen (14) Airbus A350 XWB planes, the largest fleet by an African airline.
