Ghanaian Court Shows ‘Genital’ Video – Wisa’s Lawyer Cries Foul

The controversial video recording which supposedly captured hiplife artiste Eugene Ashe, aka Wisa Greid, displaying his genital at a public concert was shown in court yesterday.

According to dailyguideafrica.com, the under one-minute video showed Wisa performing his all-time hit song ‘Slow Motion’,  while rubbing what has been reported to be his penis against the back of a female dancer on stage.

The video was played in court after it was tendered as evidence through the case investigator, Detective Chief Inspector Edward Adjei Odame.

Jerry Avenogbor, appearing for Wisa, however, slammed the prosecution for bringing what he described as hear-say evidence in court.

He said the police was not at the Accra International Conference Centre, the venue for the event, yet had brought a supposed video from the event.

Jerry stated that the police do not know who uploaded the video on social media, a position the witness admitted. The lawyer mentioned that the police do not also know where the video was edited, but D/Chief Insp Odame said the venue of the video was clear, adding it did not create a doubt in the mind of the police.

He explained that the actors on the video were contacted and admitted being at the venue at the time of the event.

Equalisation

Wisa’s lawyer further told the court presided over by Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku that the action as it was in movies was make-believe.

Chief Inspector Odame said he would not be able to speak to the issue since he is not a movie maker. Jerry asked the witness if he had not seen a worse video than the one on Wisa in which an artiste by name Kobolo also showed his penis on a live TV show.

The police officer maintained that Wisa’s case was the first time to be brought to the attention of the police.

Publicity stunt

With particular reference to Kobolo’s incidence, the lawyer insisted that what Wisa did was a publicity stunt intended to make his ratings soar in the music industry.

According to the lawyer, Kobolo’s ratings since the incidence had soared, likewise that of Wisa which he claimed had been “kicking” everybody. Jerry still insisted that his client used a strap on dildo for the performance and not a real penis.

Lawyer Jerry Avenogbor asked: “have you seen his penis in physical form before? Do you know the size and colour of his penis?” In an answer to the question that threw the court into a spontaneous state of laughter, Chief Insp Odame disclosed that he would not see Wisa’s penis because it constituted a breach of the accused person’s dignity.

Hearing of the case continues on March 22. Wisa Greid is standing trial for allegedly showing his manhood during a live performance on December 24, 2015 during the ‘December 2 Remember’ event at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Video of the artiste stripping and rubbing his manhood behind his female dancer on stage was put on social media, compelling his management to apologise over what it described as the artiste’s ‘rash and irresponsible behaviour.’ He is currently on an GH¢8,000 bail with one surety.
