News: God’s time for me is always- Stella Fubara, Dubai Tourism Africa Head


The Nigerian was one of the speakers at the Women in Tourism summit in Accra, Ghana, on Thursday, June 27th, 2019.

Since June 2015, Stella Fubara has been the Director of International Operations at the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), the main agency responsible for developing and overseeing Dubai’s tourism sector. She is in charge of Africa.

The DTCM is responsible for positioning Dubai as the world’s leading tourist destination and commercial hub, implementing a comprehensive commercial program that includes advertising campaigns and promotional activities around the world. It offers leisure packages for holidays, business packages for business travelers, packages for sporting events, religious (Christian and Muslim) and also for school trips in sharp increase.

The activities of the DTCM also include participation in foreign exhibitions, the organization of commercial tours, conferences, workshops and introductory visits, the production and distribution of advertising publications. In addition to its headquarters in Dubai, the DTCM has 18 offices abroad, including New York, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Stockholm, Milan, Moscow, Sydney, Johannesburg, Mumbai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Jiddah, Riyadh, Bern. Dubai has 16 million visitors a year.

Stella Fubara has more than two decades of solid experience in the areas of finance, planning, marketing strategy, product / enterprise development and policy formulation.

She began her professional career in 1999 as a financial portfolio manager in a global company, Owens Corning, USA. In 2001, she became Senior Project Manager at Deloitte & Touche, where she established a remarkable standard for the use of project management tools and techniques for Deloitte projects on the US East Coast.

In 2003, she moved to Florida to become project finance manager at Walt Disney World in Orlando, one of the world’s most visited entertainment complexes. Subsequently, she became Finance Manager of the “Parks Costume & Cosmetology” division of Walt Disney World.

In 2007, Stella Fubara joined Wyndham Vacation Ownership, one of the world’s largest tourism companies, as the Director of Operational Finance and Compensation, and has contributed immensely to the success of Wyndham Vacation Resorts in the United States. Her exceptional policy-making skills and financial management skills have been of great benefit to Wyndham, giving her additional responsibilities.

After the American experience, Stella Fubara returned to Africa and assumed the position of Director of Marketing and Business Development at, Nigeria’s leading online travel company, positioning the company internationally, before to be recruited by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing as Africa Director, a post she has held to date.

Stella Fubara holds a B.Sc in Business Management from Franklin University Columbus, Ohio, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Finance and Marketing. She also holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Rivers State University of Science and Technology in Rivers State, Nigeria. She is the mother of two boys and two girls.
