A 24-year-old dog handler, Abdulkareem Mohammed, was, on Thursday, arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court in Tinubu over attempted murder of Ibidunni, wife of Senior Pastor of the Trinity House Church, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo. Mohammed, alongside his co-accused, were said to have poisoned their victim, Ibidunni. Other co-accused are a 36-year-old native doctor, Akeem Makinde-Ewuosi and Paul Eke, a 29-year-old security man. The three accused persons were said to be living at 24 Moloney Street, Lagos Island; 21 Joseph Street, Lagos Island and Ilaje Street, Ajah, Lagos, respectively.
They were charged before the court by the Lagos State Police Command on two-count charge bordering on the alleged crime. The police prosecutor, Chidi Okoye, informed the court that the defendants conspired amongst themselves and attempted to murder the pastor’s wife. He said the poisonous substance, which the first defendant attempted to use to murder the victim was tested positive to the one that was used to poison pastor’s pet, a dog named Simba, which was four months old. Okoye also informed the court that the poison caused the death of the dog belonging to Ibidunni, and that the incident occurred between January 28 and February 10, 2015 at about 10pm at 4b Ogun Street, Osborne Foreshore Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos.
It was also gathered that the first defendant had been allegedly making sexual fantasies at Ibidunni, while he had also planned to kill Pastor Ituah Ighodalo after the death of the dog so that the affection Ibidunni had for her husband (Ighodalo) and the dog could be turned towards him. The defendants were later apprehended after Ibidunni said she prayed and the Holy Spirit revealed to her that something was wrong and later confronted the defendants. She said they all confessed to have poisoned the dog, which led to its death and that they also had perfected plans to get rid of her. The first defendant claimed that he got the said poison from the second defendant, who is a native doctor, with which he used to poison the dog.
