Hollywood to make a movie about Ghana ‘s World Cup money scandal

Black StarsJune 30, 2014 — The movie focusing on the trials and tribulations of the Ghanaian team, and the $3million cash delivery to the team in Brazil, is already on its way. The screenplay has already been optioned.

Despite being knocked out of the ongoing World Cup in Brazil, the Ghanaian football team may have something to look forward to after all. According to the Guardian, an award-winning US writer is planning a Hollywood thriller that focuses on Ghana’s World Cup cash drama.

The Guardian reports that the screenplay, written by Darryl Wharton-Rigby, has already been optioned by US production company Bugeater. The movie will centre around the courier carrying the $3m meant for the Ghana team and his effort to recover the money he lost after he was ambushed.

Ghana is already out but a movie, if well done, should be something to look forward to.
