Kenya is all geared up to organize the first ordinary session of the African Union Ministerial Sub-Committee on Tourism scheduled on 2nd October. The conference will talk about the main challenges the tourism industry is currently facing in Africa with a view to developing suitable strategies that are well-aligned to the AU Agenda 2063.
On Thursday, Tourism minister, Najib Balala explained that the event hosted by the African Union Commission (AUC), in partnership with the Kenyan government will draw together tourism ministers from African Continent to deliberate on way to branch out Tourism Product of Africa.
Kenya, as the Chair of UNWTO Commission for Africa (CAF), visualizes profiling tourism as a key component regarding African economies and championing the execution of the African Ministers for Tourism Declaration in Lome, Togo in 2015 for the establishment for the African Tourism Organization (ATO).
“Furthermore, we want to promote Brand Africa, cultivate positive publicity for the African Continent and intensify greater international visibility of Africa – as a safe and sustainable tourism destination of choice – and to foster continuous improvement towards more sustainable tourism product development in Africa,” said Balala.
He further added that from 2nd-4th October, Kenya will organize the Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF), which is a showcase of high-growth destinations all over Africa, all focused to make the continent grow its market share of global tourism via increased investments in tourism and hospitality in general.
