National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), at its maiden press parley of current administration which assumed leadership of the association, has lamented the alarming rate at which Nigeria’s tourism is plunging.

The association equally revealed the current leadership thrust of the current executives in driving the association forward which the president said that, ‘It is to open new channels and and to build on what the previous administrations has achieved’.

The National President Mr. Bankole Bernard, went on to insist in his opening remarks that NANTA is about the only pressure group which can fight the issues that affect both the general public and travel agencies on the matters that concern travel in the country.

The president went ahead to present the concern of the association on the down turn of events in the Nigerian travel and tourism sector, even as he insisted that unless the government is able to come up with a solution very fast, the travel industry may be completely wiped out if the problems facing the industry persists, which he maintained would lead to massive loss of jobs.

He also lamented the stoppage of operations by two international carriers, Iberia and United airlines out of the country’s airspace, with Delta airlines looking certain to join the bandwagon.
The event was well attended by members of the association executives.
