Renowned travel industry leader Stella Fubara, recipient of the Africa Travel 100 Award and the Balafon Award for West Africa Travel Personality of the Year, has transitioned from her role as the Director of International Operations at Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) to join Neom City Saudi Arabia as the Head of Trade.
In her former role, Fubara played a pivotal role in overseeing tourism and marketing activities for the Government of Dubai in sub-Saharan African countries, focusing on key nations like Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Zambia. With over two decades of impressive executive management, she contributed significantly to Dubai’s vision of becoming a leading global tourism destination and commercial hub.
As she takes on the position of Head of Trade at Neom City Saudi Arabia, Fubara is expected to leverage her exceptional skills and competencies to promote the vast opportunities in this emerging city. Located in the temperate northwest of Saudi Arabia, Neom City boasts a unique climate, offering residents sun-soaked beaches and snow-capped mountains. The city is envisioned as a living laboratory for entrepreneurship, set in breathtaking natural landscapes and driven by advanced disruptive technology.
Supporting Saudi Vision 2030, Neom City aims to achieve a zero-carbon, circular economy and revolutionary design to enhance livability and reduce urban sprawl. As a special economic zone, Neom’s innovative work spans multiple sectors, diversifying the Kingdom’s economy and providing solutions that can benefit other parts of the world.
The name “NEOM” reflects its visionary nature, with the first three letters from the Ancient Greek prefix “neo,” meaning ‘new,’ and the ‘M’ representing ‘Mustaqbal,’ an Arabic word for ‘future.’ The ‘M’ also signifies the first letter of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who envisioned this ambitious project. Stella Fubara’s expertise is expected to contribute significantly to the realization of Neom City’s goals and its role as a global model for sustainable development.
