News: Evacuation of German, French citizens begins

Earlier, the Nigeria Government gave approval for the evacuation of Dutch and French nationals from Lagos, Nigeria to Paris.

Responding to the request by the General Manager, Air France/KLM, to operate essential flights on Air France/KLM from Lagos to Paris, the Ministry of Aviation in a letter signed by the Director, Air Transport Management, M.S Naibi for the Minister of Aviation, urged the airline to operate strictly based on the protocol guiding this kind of operation under the COVID-19 as issued by the Nigerian Aeronautical Authorities.

The request by the airline is to commence the evacuation of Dutch and French nationals from 26th March, 2nd April and 9th April, 2020.
An empty KLM flight from Amsterdam is en route Nigeria to pick some of its nationals. The aircraft is to land by 2PM.

Manager, Murtala Muhammad Ali International Airport, Mrs. Victoria Shinaba, all permissions we’re sought and approved by the federal government.

She said the pilot and crew would not be allowed to disembark adding that after facilitation, the nationals would be escorted to the aircraft to board.
