The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has apologised to one of the country’s carriers, Air Peace airlines for the incursion of cows into the Akure Airport which prevented the airlines plane from landing.

The aircraft registration number 5NBQQ left Lagos for Akure but was unable to land due to the presence of the cows on the runway.

FAAN in a statement signed by its General Manager, Corporate Affairs said normalcy was restored quickly, as officers of the aviation security department quickly dispersed the cows from the runway and the aircraft was cleared for landing.

The statement said: “The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to apologize to Air Peace Airlines and our esteemed passengers for a runway incursion incident that prevented an Akure airport bound flight from landing for some minutes.

“The Authority will like to assure travellers and the general public that efforts are already ongoing to close the gap that aided this incident.”
