Africa: Ooni Ogunwusi to launch Imperial Award in Canada

Ooni of Ife, HIM Adeyeye Babatunde Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11 is expected to launch the maiden edition of an Award of Merit and Excellence in Toronto, Canada. The event is packaged by Hope4sure foundation and Prince George Entertainment in collaboration with Toronto Caribbean Carnival.

According to the statement released by one of the organisers, Naomi Olapeju Oke, the event which will take place from August 1st and August 11th, 2019.

The King, His Highness Ogunwusi shall be unveiled as the Grand Patron of the festival, and he would in turn present the first ever Imperial Awards to the Prime Minister of Canada, the oldest Mayor in Mississauga, Hacel Mccallion and other prominent personalities like The Mayor of Toronto, John Tory, Brampton Mayor, Patrick Brown, Mississanga Mayor, Bonnie Crombie, Mr.

Hamed Hussein, Minister of Immigration, Mr. Ramesh Sangha, MP Brampton Central and notable Nigerian community leaders shall also receive the Imperial Awards from His Royal Highness, Ooni of Ife respectively.

The statement noted that the Canadian Prime Minister will present an Award if Excellence to some individuals that have contributed immensely to the growth of humanities, both home and abroad. Among them are Rev’d Mother Esther Ajayi, Sir Adebutu Kensington, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, His Excellency Mr. Adeyinka Asekun, The High Commissioner to Canada.

Other awardees are Mr. Tony Elumelu Ceo UBA Bank, Former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Noble Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, Governor Benedict Ayade of Cross River State, Barrister Allen Onyema, Ceo Air Peace Airlines, Senator Florence Ita Giwa, Dr. Maurice Bygrave, Ambassador Tuface Idibia, Ms. Tiwa Savage, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmabaku, Barrister Johnson Babalola, Dr. Amos Dele Dada, CAC Bethel Toronto, Dr. Issa Odidi, Ceo Interllipharmaceutics Int. & Dr. Ola Kassim.

Also, The First black female Canadian Member of Parliament, Hon. Jean Augustine, the Director of Bigger than Africa, Toyin Ibrahim Adekeye and Director, Montreal Black Film festival, Ms. Fabienne Colas will also receive their award, while the Co-Founder and first chairman of Toronto Caribana, Mr. Alban Liverpool shall be given a Posthumous award.

The event, according to Prince George Peter’s will also feature Imperial Award Night, Royal Boat Cruise, Sick Kids Foundation Grants, Calabar festival in Diaspora Music & Entertainment and Priemere of a documentary movie titled ‘Bigger than Africa’.
