The Miss Africa organising team, alongside the reigning pageant queen, Irene Ng’endo Mukii paid a courtesy visit to the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) to seek endorsement and partnership towards the All-East Africa Casting/Concert scheduled to take place on the September 27, 2020 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Leading the Miss Africa organising team was Mr. Thomas Ikpeme, Senior Special Assistant (Events and Tourism) to the governor of Cross River State, Nigeria who briefed members of the KTB. Ikpeme, after extending the governor, Prof. Ben Ayade’s warmest regards gave a brief history of the beauty pageant, which is part of the festivities, along with bikers’ parade, international band carnival and other iconic events that light up the annual Carnival Calabar.

Speaking further, the Senior Special Assistant noted that as the road to Miss Africa 2020 has begun, the organisation is seeking endorsement and partnership towards the successful All-East Africa casting in Nairobi, Kenya; while highlighting various ways the relationship will benefit both parties.

Already billed to be the biggest Entertainment/Tourism event in the region, the East Africa casting is expected to bring together all the countries in the region to compete for a place in the grand finale which will take place in Calabar on December 27th, 2020.

Responding, the KTB team appreciated the team for bringing such a laudable project to them because unlike other pageants, Miss Africa themes have been used to raise awareness on the issues affecting Africa and also the empowerment of the African woman by using the pageant queen as a voice to drive the process, referring to the past themes namely “Climate change,” “Migration,” “Africanism” and “Humanity.”

Members of the KTB at the meeting included: Anne Kanini (Senior Public Relations Officer), Alex Tunoi (Manager, Africa and Domestic Affairs) and Fred Okeyo (Acting Director of Marketing) who represented the MD/CEO, Betty Radier. The Miss Africa organising team had Mathias Amgbah, the Senior Special Assistant (Web & Social Media, Events Department), Femi Oyelade (Brand Manager Miss Africa), Chuks Okafor (Video Director for Miss Africa Organisation) and Mr Marlon of Swaga Inc. and marketing representative for Miss Africa in Kenya.

After further deliberations, both teams will go back and conclude modalities that will bring forth one of the greatest collaborations between West Africa and East Africa in recent times.
