This is the moment an African cycling team were stopped in their tracks because they saw snow for the very first time.
The Rwandan national team had been on a training camp in Utah in the U.S. when the cyclists came across a snowy deposit on the roadside.
But rather than carry on their journey, the riders were unable to contain their excitement and immediately leapt off their bikes.
‘The team was on its way to the Tour of the Gila, their first ever US race.
‘The guys were so mesmerised by the snow. They kept putting it in their pockets to take with them not realising it would melt.
‘They also kept putting it on their heads and getting brain freeze.’
Snow is common in Moab due to their climate of having cool winters and on average see up to seven inches fall during the cold season.
In comparison, Rwanda is only two degrees south of the equator meaning they enjoy warm weather all year round with an average daily temperature of 22 degrees, although snow is possible in the mountains.
The Rwanda cycling team are often considered as one of the strongest in Africa and recently tasted success at La Tropicale, the African equivalent of the Tour de France.
