Zahar African Safaris

The Chief Executive Officer, Zahar African Safaris Lilian Maximillian Kramer, has been named as one of the Africa Travel 100 under 40 award winners by the organisers of Akwaaba Travel Market, West Africa’s largest travel expo and Atqnews.com.

Kramer, is a safari enthusiast with vast experience, and a mother, partner.

Before starting Zahar African Safaris, I was the definition of dedication and hard work…my life revolved around my work: working long hours, pushing to the limit to deliver and often forgetting about other things. Sometimes I would find myself wearing the same clothing I had the day before as I clearly had fallen asleep after coming home. At first, I thought I was pushing myself to impress my employer but then I realized I actually really, really LOVED my job.

I was Passionate about giving guests the best experience possible and dedicated to making their experience unique and flawless while sharing the beauty of my country’s nature and the friendliness of her people.

This made me take a step that, until today, I think is my best decision ever: to start a company that embodies those same values of passion, dedication and uniqueness by providing guests a true once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Of course, there were risks, uncertainties and no assurances in taking such a step especially since the travel industry is traditionally very male oriented like most of African societies, so to be a woman alone can be difficult as people might not give you the same credibility as they do with men.

But now, looking back, I am proud to have founded and running Zahar African Safaris; a successful boutique safari company with professional Tanzanian staff who share my passion to provide guests with a unique personal experience, that work hard with dedication and that are passionate about sharing their country, their culture and their people with them.

Coming to Tanzania means you arrive as a stranger, but we will say our farewells as friends, hoping to see you again!
