Tourism: Egypt, Africa’s most Visited Country with 11.7 million Visitors in 2022 plans for 15m Tourists in 2023

North African country of Egypt welcomed a total of 11.7 million tourists in 2022, compared to the corresponding period last year.

According to Zawya, this information was made available by the country’s tourism Minister Ahmed Issa during a meeting headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to follow up the progress made in the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) project, as well as the urban development efforts in the areas surrounding it.

Issa added that this year Egypt is expected to see 28% more tourists to reach up to 15 million. Inbound tourism in January and February of this year witnessed a growth of 35% compared to the corresponding period last year, the minister said.
