The Conservator of Park, Old Oyo National Park and first female Conservator of Park in West Africa, Conservator of Park (CP) Caroline S. Olory led a team from the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), on a tour of the natural heritage sites of Old Oyo National Park.
The CP, accompanied by DCP R. A. Muraina, DCP F. A Okafor and Park Rangers took the team led by Mr Dotun Opatola on a two-day assessment from 2nd to 3rd of November 2021 to profile the Natural Heritage sites in the Park for its potential enlisting as World Heritage Site.
The sites visited were Ibuya Pool known for its mysterious healing powers at Marguba Range, Agbaku Cave famous for its powers to retaliate death in the ancient days, Outer Defence Wall of many centuries, the ancient Information Centre, Mejiro Industrial Site where the Old Oyo people carried out their industrial activities, Mejiro Cave, the ancient Reservoir which served the people in the olden days and Ahoro relics all in Oyo-Ile Legendary Complex at Oyo-Ile Range of the Park.

At the end of the tour, the leader of the NTDC team, Mr Dotun Opatola expressed excitement on what they saw in the Park. He advised that the natural heritage sites be rebuilt with the kind of materials used in the olden days.
While responding, CP C. S. Olory expressed gratitude for the patience and perseverance of the team to visit the natural/historic sites in the Park despite the terrain. The CP reassured the team that the Park Management will intensify efforts to maintain the natural heritage sites for the benefit of present and future generations.
