The organisers of Akwaaba African Travel Market, the leading Pan-African Travel Expo have confirmed that Jacinta Nzioka, National Coordinator and CEO of Kenya Convention Bureau, will be speaking at the 4th edition of the African Travel and Tourism Conference, scheduled to take place as a virtual event on September 21, 2020.
Jacinta is currently the National Coordinator/CEO of the Kenya National Convention Bureau (KCB) and Deputy-Chair of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Africa chapter. A passionate tourism executive, prior to Jacinta’s appointment at KCB, she was Director of Marketing at the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), charged with the responsibility of leading Kenya’s global tourism marketing strategy.
With over 20 years’ experience in Destination Management. Jacinta has overseen implementation of tourism projects in all the source markets having been a Regional Manager for America, Europe and Emerging Markets since four years ago, when KTB first ventured in the West and East African markets. She managed a team of product developers and marketers both in Kenya and in the 12 offices globally that KTB has.
During this period Jacinta has been instrumental in achieving recognition of KTB as Africa’s Best Tourism Board 6 years consecutively by the World Travel Awards. Jacinta’s warm and charismatic demeanour and well known passion for her work earned her a steady rise to the top of the tourism board and is a familiar face in most global events where Kenya tourism is represented. Within the East African region, Jacinta’s contribution has been under the Joint Tourism Marketing Committee that managed the launch of a single destination brand, developed and implemented the joint strategy.
In her private time, Jacinta is an avid hiker and supports women community based projects. Her passion for cultural tourism and sustainable development has seen her participate in various international conferences and forums as speaker, presenter and mentor as well as guest university lecturer in Kenya, Ethiopia and the UK.
Jacinta is currently taking her Masters in Responsible Tourism from Leeds-Beckett UK as a Common Wealth scholar. She holds an MBA Strategic Management, BSc Tourism and several professional courses in Transformational Leadership.
The African Travel and Tourism Conference is scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2020 via Zoom at 1400hrs Nigerian time; 1600hrs East African time.
The theme for this year’s conference is: Is MICE a Viable Pathway for Tourism Recovery in Africa?
Other panelists for the event include: Lilly Ajarova, CEO of Uganda Tourism Board; Sisa Ntshona (CEO, South Africa Tourism); and Akwasi Agyeman (CEO, Ghana Tourism Authority), while the lead speaker is Rick Taylor from South Africa.
Special Guest of Honour is tourism guru and presidential candidate in the Seychelles elections, Alain St. Ange, while the session will be hosted by Ambassador Ikechi Uko, season travel and tourism expert and organiser of the event.
Akwaaba African Travel Market, the leading Pan-African Tourism Expo is the first travel and tourism fair in West Africa. Scheduled to host its 16th edition this year, Akwaaba has attracted leading experts and stakeholders in the travel, tourism, aviation and hospitality industries from different parts of Africa and the world. In addition, several important dignitaries such as presidents, ministers, ambassadors and high commissioners from different parts of the world have graced the annual event. The 2020 Akwaaba will be hosted as a virtual event.
