Tourism: Justina Okpanku, Managing of Editor Justtours Media, Nigeria Wins Africa Travel 100 Women Award

The Managing Editor of Justtours Media, Justina Okpanku has won the coveted Africa Travel 100 Award which recognises exceptional women in the travel and tourism sector.

Justtours Media (Nigeria), is a leading publication for the Motoring, Hospitality and Travel industries. She writes for a number publications including THISDAY Newspaper as a contributor.

Okpanku has wealth of experience in Travel & Tourism as well as Transport/Motoring reporting in Nigeria that has spanned over 25 years.

I have a university degree, Bachelor of Art in English Language and Literature, obtained from Imo State University, Uturu, Nigeria (1990); have another degree, Master’s in Industrialist Labour and Personnel Management from the University of Lagos, Akoka (1999).

Okpanku joined THISDAY Newspaper, Nigeria in April 1996 till July 2010 before she moved to BusinessWorld Newspaper as Associate Editor. In 2012, she moved to Daily Newswatch as Assistant Editor, Motoring/Travel.

The multiple -award winner (Okpanku) was also bestowed with a seal of tourism reporting by the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), our national tourism organisation, during a Pre-Independence Concert in October 2012.

Earlier, in 2004 and 2006, she was voted the Best Travel Journalist in Nigeria by the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), the organised private sector. She also won Travellers’ Awards in 2004, 2005 and 2008 respectively organised by Africa Travel Quarterly (ATQ) Magazine.

The well-travelled journalist, Okpanku, was selected to serve in Ford Motor Company Panel of Judges on 2013 Ford Environmental Grants for Nigeria.

I love to travel. Travel is good education and it’s more than experience. Travelling around opened your eyes to what is happening in the world. Apart from travelling, I enjoy cooking, reading and gardening.
