Nigerian online radio station, Spirit Of Nigeria and Kenyan ICON Radio have announced their collaboration in a historic partnership, which would see both online radio stations broadcast content in a promotional exchange of music and culture.

According to guardian.ng, a statement jointly signed by Managing Director of the Nairobi-based Icon Radio, Myra Maloba Maina, and President, Spirit of Nigeria Radio, Toye Arulogun, the programme titled ‘9JA-KENYA KONNEKT’, the first of such partnership, was a concept aimed at bridging the socio-cultural divide between Nigeria and Kenya through the exposition of the languages, culture, street lingo, food, fashion, music, sports, tourism and other key lifestyle and daily living trends of both countries.

According to the statement, “9JA-KENYA KONNEKT is conceptualised to give the people of Kenya and Nigeria a feel of both nations in a rich, insightful and easy to listen format that enlightens the audience on key socio-cultural aspects of the East and West African icons in the true African Spirit.”

The statement further stated that given the shared history, similarities and healthy competition between both nations, 9JA-KENYA KONNEKT would foster a better understanding, appreciation and relationship between citizens and the governments of Nigeria and Kenya.

9JA-KENYA KONNEKT, the one-hour content, would be broadcast on Icon Radio Kenya on Fridays between 7:00pm and 8:00pm East Africa Time with Nigerian content, while Spirit Of Nigeria will broadcast the Kenyan Content on Saturdays from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
