Meet Rae Omo the New acting DG of NTDC of Nigeria
Mrs Mariel Rae-Omoh was born in the mid sixties and of Edo state origin. She has a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism. She studied Tourism and Hospitality Administration in Italy.
She is a team player and has vast knowledge of the Tourism Industry, she is a seasoned bureaucrat, driven by a strong desire to break areas hitherto considered to be impossible, a risk taker, decisive and able to make difficult decisions when necessary.
She speaks and writes three international languages and two Nigerian languages and has unalloyed loyalty and unflinching support in moving the Tourism industry to its peak. She has done this successfully by including Tourism in school curriculum in collaboration with National Educational Research Development Council (NERDC), SHEDA, ABUJA.
She has successfully organised lectures in secondary schools and NYSC orientation camps in the country as Youth Tourism Projects. She was NTDC’s South South Zonal Coordinator . A Member of the lnstitute of Hotel and Catering Management(IHCM) from 1990 till date, Member of the National Executive council of IHCM -1990 to 1992, Member Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) 1990 till date, Member, Local Organising Committee, Africa Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO, President Forum), Member, Organising Committee on World Travel Market London, UK(2014).
She has excellent communication skills, good negotiating prowess, polite and a pleasant disposition. Quick to learn and adapt. Dedicated to work. A realist and a humanist. She loves to play squash and an interior decorator.

Yes, we are beginning to have core tourism professionals around the table, but much more could still be done by pooling resource persons together. As a tourism professional herself, as an NTDC insider, she should know by now whom to bring round herself as a think-tank on Nigerian tourism development. We have been testing different related hands for too long to now look inwards for professionals! They abound!! We have not yet well DEVELOPed our tourist facilities enough, but we can achieve the feat. Destination development is the secret!!! Thanks.
