Nigeria has emerged as the African country with the highest number of Twitter (X) users, according to new statistics released by Data Reportal.
The report shows that Nigeria tops the continent with 7.57 million active users, reflecting the country’s strong engagement on the microblogging platform. Egypt follows closely with 5.84 million users, while South Africa ranks third with 3.15 million.
Kenya and Algeria complete the top five with 2.33 million and 1.24 million users respectively, highlighting East and North Africa’s growing digital influence.

Ghana, Morocco, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia also feature prominently, each recording hundreds of thousands of users and demonstrating the platform’s broad penetration across the continent.
