Wakanow, Africa’s leading travel technology company, has been crowned winner of the Best Exhibition Stand Award at the 21st edition of the Akwaaba African Travel Market, held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
The travel firm outshone several exhibitors with its captivating and interactive stand design, which became a major attraction for participants throughout the three-day event. Judges, described as seasoned professionals who have followed Akwaaba for years, carefully assessed all participating exhibitors before naming Wakanow the overall winner.
Royal Air Maroc secured the second position, while Tanzania impressed enough to clinch third place in the continental category.
In the Nigerian category, the Cross River State Tourism Bureau emerged victorious, winning the Best Nigerian Stand award for its outstanding presentation and ability to showcase the state’s rich tourism offerings in a compelling way.
The recognition further cements Wakanow’s reputation as an innovative leader in Africa’s travel and tourism industry. Its achievement also highlights the company’s commitment to creativity and excellence in connecting travelers to unique experiences across the continent.
The Akwaaba African Travel Market, now in its 21st year, remains Africa’s largest and most influential travel exhibition.
This year’s edition attracted over 3,000 participants and hosted the largest gathering of airlines at any travel expo in Africa, alongside hoteliers, tour operators, tourism boards, and government agencies.
With competitions such as the Jollof Rice Challenge, the Top 100 Hotels Awards, and various high-level conferences on women in tourism, domestic tourism, cargo, and insurance, Akwaaba continues to be a platform where innovation, networking, and culture meet to shape the future of African tourism.
