Turkish national carrier, Turkish Airlines has said it will enhance forth prevent air travelers with record of previous visits to countries that are most affected with the dreaded Coronavirus.
The airline in a statement said passengers that have visited China, South Korea, Iran, Iraq, and Italy will not be allowed to board the airline.
According to the statement, the decision to stop passengers with previous record of visit to these countries was born out of the need to curtail the spread of the disease and preserve public health.
The statement said: “In accordance with the decisions taken by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health to preserve health against the novel type coronavirus (COVID-19), of which the Global Risk Level was assessed by the World Health Organisation to be “Very High”, the passengers who have been to People’s Republic of China, South Korea, Iran, Iraq, and Italy 14 days prior to their planned arrival to Turkey will not be allowed to Turkey or transit pass through the country. We would like you to consider this while planning your travel” the statement said.
Recall that Nigeria recorded its first coronavirus case which involved an Italian citizen who entered the country on 24 February on a Turkish Airlines flight from Milan via Istanbul.
