Africa: Benue State Government Forges Alliance With NIHOTOUR To Catalyze Tourism Growth

In a strategic move geared towards fostering the development of the tourism sector, the Benue State Government engaged in pivotal discussions centered around collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR).

The primary agenda of these discussions was to formulate a robust partnership that would propel the promotion and expansion of the tourism industry within Benue State.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mr. Matthew Abo along with the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Godwin Tighil, and the Director Tourism of the Ministry, Mrs. Alice Tor, visited the Director General of NIHOTOUR, Nura Kangiwa in Abuja to see how the state could gain prominence in the tourism space in the country.

The visiting team came in the company of Mr Sadat Umaru Lakorok, the Coordinator of NIHOTOUR Makurdi campus, in Benue State.

Key discussion points included workforce development initiatives to equip personnel with necessary skills and foster economic empowerment for youths and women. Overall, objective been to position Benue State as a leading tourism destination while promoting sustainable practices for socio-economic development.
