Emirates Airlines’ latest passenger data shows that China was the most popular international destination for Nigerian travelers in 2025, highlighting growing travel demand between Nigeria and China for business, trade, education, and tourism purposes.
According to thisdaylive, last year, China emerged as the most visited destination with a total of 11, 530 Nigerian passengers across airlines, the report revealed.
Out of this number Guangzhou alone accounted for nearly 80 percent of all travel to mainland China, reflecting the city’s enduring importance as a commercial hub for Nigerian entrepreneurs, importers and business travellers.
Beyond Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen also attracted significant numbers of Nigerian visitors, thus “demonstrating the breadth of commercial and business ties between Nigeria and UAE.
The passengers’ data also revealed that the United States continued to rank among Nigerians’ preferred long-haul destinations, with 2,500 passengers travelling through Emirates’ network to its 11 US gateways.
New York (JFK) remained the leading American destination, accounting for almost one-third of US bound travellers.
Also, Houston, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Boston featured prominently, reflecting a blend of business travel, family visits, education and tourism.

“Beyond an extensive global network, Emirates continues to enhance the travel experience with regionally inspired cuisine, award-winning hospitality and more than 6,500 channels of entertainment on its acclaimed ice inflight entertainment system,” Emirates stated.
