Africa: Enugu State Gears Up for Detty December Tourism thrills with Music, Masquerades and Carnivals

Enugu State is positioning itself as a major Detty December destination with a packed calendar of music, cultural festivals and entertainment events lined up throughout the holiday season.

According to Dame Barrister Ugochi Madueke. Enugu State’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, the programme blends with contemporary performances and  traditional celebrations, highlighting the state’s rich cultural heritage and growing creative scene.

Activities begin with O42 Fest on December 13, followed by the Jeriq Music Show on December 14 and the New Yam Music Festival on December 15.

Cultural highlights include the Mmonwu masquerade festival on December 20 and a major roadblock concert scheduled for December 23. Music lovers will also be treated to Kolaboy’s music show on December 21, alongside the state Christmas carol and praise night on the same day.

Comedy takes centre stage with the Mc Monica show on December 26, while Landmark Nike Lake will host a 12 Days of Christmas celebration from December 22 to January 2. Organisers say the lineup is designed to attract visitors, boost tourism and place Enugu firmly on Nigeria’s Detty December map.
