The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), the umbrella body that represents all the private sector in the tourism and related industry in Nigeria has sent a condolence message to His Excellency, President Mohammadu Buhari to commiserate with him on the loss of his Chief of Staff, late Mallam Abba Kyari, who died of COVID-19 on Friday 17th April 2020.

In a release signed by the President of FTAN, Alhaji Saleh Rabo, he described the late Chief of Staff
as a loyal, diligent and fervent officer who discharged his duties to the admiration of his principal, Mr President during his life time.

Rabo stated that FTAN will always remember late Mallam Kyari for his support to the Hon. Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed when Nigeria hosted the 61st UNWTO CAF Meeting in 2018.

“The positive impacts of Mallam Kyari for the successful hosting of UNWTO CAF Meeting with more than 50 ministers of tourism and over 500 delegates in attendance cannot be over emphasized. The great success of the event placed Nigeria on vintage position on global tourism map”, Rabo added.

“Mallam Kyari served Nigeria at the highest level of government, as a trusted and resourceful officer while he will be greatly missed by the Nation in general, Rabo said.

The helmsman of FTAN reiterated that COVID-19 is real and admonished all stakeholders and citizens to adhere to all the guidelines and directives from the federal government as a way to curb the spread of the virus in the country.

FTAN commended the steps taken so far by the Federal government and assured Nigerians that COVID-19 will soon be a thing of the past in country.
