The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), in line with the Government of Ghana’s digitallization agenda, is ending the use of embarkation and disembarkation cards by the traveling public at the Kotoka International Airport.
The agency in a statement signed by the Comptroller General, GIS, Kwame Asuah Takyi and addressed to the Director General, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, he said passengers exiting and arriving the Kotoka International Airport will not be required to fill cards as part of immigration entry and exit formallities.
It stated that it will commence a 10-day pilot from 21 March, 2023 on the new measures to be adopted.
The GIS said as such, arriving and departing travellers will not be provided with the
disembarkation and embarkation cards but will be required to provide the following information at the immigration processing booth as part of entry/exit formalities:
1. Address in Ghana and Abroad
2. Phone Numbers
3. Flight Detalls (Airline and Flight Number)
4. Purpose of Visit
5. Profession
6. Duration of Stay
The agency added that the full rollout of the new measure will comme bince on 31st March, 2023.
The GIS through the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority further notified the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and airline operators in the country of the new development.
