ASKY Airlines has postponed the planned launch of its flights to Kano, citing passenger concerns over travelling through Niamey amid the current regional situation.
The airline said a number of passengers who had initially booked the Kano service expressed concerns about the routing through Niamey and subsequently cancelled their reservations, prompting ASKY to delay the commencement of operations.
According to the airline, the decision was taken to safeguard the safety, comfort and confidence of passengers while alternative operational arrangements are being considered.
ASKY, however, stressed that the postponement does not signal a withdrawal from its plans to serve Kano, reiterating its commitment to developing the route and strengthening connectivity with Nigeria.

“Our teams are actively working on alternative operational arrangements to ensure a smooth and reliable launch, and we will share further updates as soon as they are confirmed,” the airline said.
The carrier also thanked its partners and relevant authorities for their understanding and continued support, expressing optimism that operations on the Kano route would commence soon.
The planned Kano service is expected to further expand ASKY’s presence in Nigeria and improve regional connectivity, particularly between northern Nigeria and destinations across West Africa and beyond.
