Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuany while on tours of projects across the state stopped over at the Unity Park Enugu, near Michael Okpara Square, to ascertain the level of work at the tourist site.
Reports say there is ongoing clearing work at the centre by the Enugu Clean Team, preparatory to planting of grasses and flowers and installation of park seats in diverse materials.
Formerly known as Forest Reserve, the park is undergoing massive transformation by Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration, such as construction of artificial water pond and a roaring lion monument of about 30ft high and 60ft wide, to serve as tourist attraction and place for recreation and relaxation.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi, joined the governor in the inspection.
The project is coming at a time when inbound tourism has become the project of tourism stakeholders in Nigeria especially with the need to boost the visit of international tourists into the country while also creating jobs for the locals.
