Marking a significant moment in global tourism governance, Kenya has been elected as the Chair of the Committee on Tourism and Competitiveness (CTC) for the term spanning 2023 to 2027.
According to unwto.org, the inaugural meeting of the Committee under its current composition was convened to outline the agenda and strategic roadmap for the next two years, aligning with priorities outlined by Member States during the 25th General Assembly held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Discussions centered on governance and policy frameworks crucial for advancing tourism competitiveness, with Kenya and Sri Lanka securing roles as Chair and Vice-Chair, respectively, for the Committee.
Representing the African region alongside Zambia, Kenya aims to champion initiatives driving tourism excellence on the continent and beyond.
