The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), and the Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, have commended the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, for the successful upgrade of the Pilgrim Terminal Building at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The commendation came during an inspection of the newly upgraded facility, where the Minister and the Board Chairman expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and the Authority’s commitment to modernising airport infrastructure.

Speaking after the inspection, Keyamo praised the FAAN management for delivering a project that aligns with global aviation standards and supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the upgraded terminal reflects the Federal Government’s determination to provide world-class aviation infrastructure that enhances passenger comfort, safety, and operational efficiency.

The Minister also commended Mrs. Kuku and her management team for their continued drive to improve airport facilities across the country, describing the project as another milestone in FAAN’s ongoing infrastructure renewal programme.

Similarly, Dr. Ganduje lauded the current FAAN management for its commitment to transforming Nigeria’s airports through strategic investments in infrastructure and passenger services. He expressed delight with the pace of development under the present leadership, noting that the Authority has continued to demonstrate professionalism, innovation, and dedication to improving the nation’s aviation sector.

The upgraded Pilgrim Terminal Building is designed to provide intending pilgrims with a seamless, secure, and comfortable travel experience. The facility now boasts a 300-seat passenger waiting area, upgraded VIP and VVIP lounges, free high-speed Wi-Fi, a fully air-conditioned mosque, and enhanced screening and scanning equipment to improve passenger processing and strengthen security.

The project is part of FAAN’s broader commitment to modernising airport infrastructure and delivering passenger-focused services that meet international best practices. It also reinforces the Authority’s support for the Federal Government’s vision of building a safe, efficient, and globally competitive aviation sector capable of meeting the growing needs of air travellers.
