The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in conjunction with the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, on Wednesday, 23rd September, 2026, conducted an inspection of the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation works at Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos Island
The inspection assessment was led by the Director, Monument and Museum Management Department of the Ministry, Mr. Ladejobi Ibrahim, alongside the Deputy Director, Architect Babatunde Yakub of the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
During the visit, the team, together with the Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Park/Total Consult Limited, Architect Theo Lawson, inspected various sections of the Park to ascertain the present condition of the facility, assess the progress of the ongoing works and review areas covered under the approved renovation and rehabilitation agreement.

The exercise also provided an opportunity for the relevant Ministries and Messrs Total Consult Limited to assess the site and establish the necessary coordination for the effective execution and continuation of the approved works.
Freedom Park, located on Broad Street, Lagos Island, remains an important historical, cultural and tourism asset of Lagos State.
The ongoing renovation and rehabilitation works are aimed at improving the facility and enhancing its functionality for tourism, heritage preservation, recreation and public engagements.
The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture emphasised the importance of maintaining and improving the State’s heritage assets, noting that the ongoing intervention at Freedom Park is significant to the continued preservation and development of the site as a destination for cultural and tourism activities.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure will continue to work with Messrs Total Consult Limited to ensure proper coordination and effective delivery of the approved renovation and rehabilitation works in line with required standards and specifications.
In attendance were other members of staff from both Ministries.
