In a bid to strengthen its position as a leading tourism hub, the Lagos State Government has commenced the development of modern tourist chalets in Badagry.
The 68-bed facility is designed to enhance hospitality services and provide visitors with a more comfortable and memorable experience.
According to punchng.com, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the Chief Executive Officer of AKWAABA Africa Travel Market, Ikechi Uko, to her office in Alausa, Ikeja.
She said the project was a major investment aimed at repositioning Lagos as Africa’s leading destination for leisure and cultural experiences.
“These significant projects are a way to reposition Lagos as Africa’s leading destination for tourism and leisure. The chalets will boost Badagry’s potential and brighten the image of Lagos tourism,” Benson-Awoyinka said.
The commissioner added that despite Lagos being rich in natural and cultural attractions, many residents remain unaware of the state’s tourism potential. She urged residents to explore and take advantage of the hidden gems around them.
Speaking on this year’s World Tourism Day celebration held at Tarkwa Bay Beach, Benson-Awoyinka explained that the venue was chosen to highlight the ministry’s renewed focus on coastal tourism and beach-related investments.
In his remarks, Uko commended the state government for its proactive approach to tourism development, especially its emphasis on beach tourism.
